Twin Cities BUMP Faith E. Free Update 7/18/2011

Today our team went to a rally/chapel service for the morning with all other BUMP teams at Hope Community Church.  We spent time worshipping, talking about prayer walks and evangelism techniques, watching a dance performance by our leaders, and learning more about how to make an impact in our community we are working in.  After the rally and lunch, our team proceeded to go to Faith E. Free to do promote our VBS by passing our fliers and praying for the community.  We split up into four teams and tried to cover as much of Robinsdale and Crystal as possible.  However, our two teams in Crystal were stopped by the police, which makes for an interesting story, so we had to return to the church.  After passing out hundreds of fliers, we then played various games with our group to get to know eachother better.  The church graciously served us supper, then we began the VBS which goes from six to eight.  We began with a group session with worship and an overview of the evening; then we split up the children into three different age groups.  They then rotated between the three following activities: crafts, games, and a Bible lesson with Scripture memorization.  We had a small group of children partly due to the extreme weather and not being able to invite kids that would usually be playing outside.  We are praying for more kids to come throughout the week and that the kids will being their friends along to the VBS.  Although we had a smaller group of kids, it was awesome to work with each child on a personal level.  We had a brief team meeting afterwards discussing what went well and what we could improve.  We also shared about how the culture was so different and how it was mind-blowing that some of the children that came had never even heard of Jesus Christ or heard the Gospel message.  As we got to know each child, we were amazed at how readily they listened to the Bible stories and how they continued to ask questions.  We can't wait to see how God will work through us this week and in the hearts of the children.  Around eight thirty we returned to the North Central campus, tired, sweaty, and ready for a good night's rest.  Please pray for more children to come out to the VBS, for cooler weather, and that God will continue to work through us this week.
